Gilda’s Club South Florida held its 3rd annual American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference update at their historic clubhouse on June 22nd. Sponsored in part by Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb, this important interactive discussion offered information on the latest breakthroughs in cancer research and treatment recently announced at the ASCO annual conference in Atlanta.

The nearly 80 people in attendance learned about the new developments from prominent local physicians, Dr. Atif Hussein, Director of Clinical Research for the Memorial Healthcare System and Dr. Alejandra Perez, Co-Medical Director of the Memorial Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Center. “It is important for members of Gilda’s Club to be educated with the latest research in order to make difficult decisions regarding their care. It is also very encouraging and exciting for them to see the progress made every year in the field,” said Dr. Perez.
